Dave and Sharon got married November 2020 at Van Dyk by Wildes Hotel in Chesterfield. Having gone through all of the emotions that COVID brought to couples planning their big day, having moved and re arranged, they just wanted to go for it. Declare their love to the world, well, their initmate guest list of their best people. Sharon and Dave decided to move their day forward to beat the impending lockdown in the UK.
I can’t believe that it is nearly two weeks ago, time flies. We are both so glad that we managed to say I do before lockdown and we are grateful to everyone for pulling it together with us.

The Bride squad got ready in the new bridal suite in the newly built hotel extention at Van Dyk by Wildes. The rooms were beautiful and the perfect setting to get ready for your big day. Two hair and make up artists worked their magic on the bride squad, Mazz Loxton Hair and Make Up and Embellish Hair and Makeup
Mazz said, ‘I usually insist on having a trial before any wedding. There are of course, always exceptions to the rule, and Sharon’s wedding was one of those exceptions! Because of the impending lockdown, Sharon and Dave decided to bring their wedding forward, and I was absolutely delighted to step in when Adele recommended me! Because of the short time frame (around 48 hours!) there was no way we were going to be able to have a trial, so I made sure I allowed extra time in the schedule for everyone who was going to be having their hair done on the day, plus an extra hour as a safety net, I would always rather have everyone finished too early than having everyone panicking at the last minute! The styles we were going for also meant there would be minimal touch up requirements too which was great! Sharon went for a glam textured high bun, with lots of height at the crown. I always use some sort of padding when I create styles like this, I personally prefer to use padding rather than extensions, and because we weren’t going to have been able to have a trial, it was easier for me to make a selection of padding in a variety of colours and use the padding that was the best colour match (again, rather safe than sorry!) For the bridesmaids we went for lots of lovely low textured buns. To finish everyone’s hairstyles off, Sharon had these gorgeous crystal pins which looked absolutely stunning placed in the buns, and went perfectly with Sharon’s dress. Seeing the pictures with the fairy light walk after the wedding was absolutely breathtaking! It’s always an honour to style someone’s hair for their wedding, and having thought that I had already styled my last wedding for the year, it was such a joy to be able to help Sharon and her family get ready, and absolutely helped to end the year on a high!’

Sharon did her own flowers and crafted flowers for the bridesmaids too. Sharon’s dress was from La Belle Boutique. The wedding reception included a a beautifully intimate first dance and fireworks.
It is always an honour to be trusted by a couple to capture their special day, but to do so during a pandemic at such an intimate wedding was truly special.
